Robert A. Franklin
Robert A. Franklin received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University in 1976. He attended law school at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California and received his Juris Doctor degree in May of 1979.
Mr. Franklin has been a practicing trial and appellate lawyer since 1980 and is one of the Firm’s specialists in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Mr. Franklin has co-authored "Effective Introduction of Evidence", a treatise published by the California Continuing Education of the Bar. He is also counsel of record for four published decisions, In re Quality Laser Works, 211 B.R. 936 (9th Cir BAP 1997), Robert J. Williams, Inc. v. Official Unsecured Creditor’s Committee, 238 B.R. 475 (9th Cir. BAP 1999), MicroAge, Inc. v. Viewsonic Corp. (In re MicroAge, Inc.), 291 B.R. 503 (9th Cir. BAP 2002) and AMB v. AB Liquidating (In re AB Liquidating), 416 F.3d.961 (9th Cir 2005).
Mr. Franklin’s service to the legal community includes serving as a Panel Resolution Advocate for the Northern District of California Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution Program since 1997 and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum. In addition, he served as group manager of the Congressman Don Edwards Inn of the American Inns of Court from 2005-2007. He is also a member of the State Bar of California, serving on the Insolvency Law Subcommittee of its Business Law Section from 2002-2005, and of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, serving as chairperson of its Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section in 1999. He was named a “Super Lawyer” by San Francisco Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Mr. Franklin and his wife Justine live in Palo Alto, California as new “empty nesters” who love to welcome back their sons Geoff and Brian for visits. He is also active in his community, serving two terms as President and member of the board of directors of the Eichler Swim & Tennis Club and as a volunteer coordinator for Rebuilding Together Peninsula from 2002-2007. He is an avid golfer and tennis player, participating in several tournaments each year.
